Since 1866, Abramson Senior Care has served as a safety net for the frail Jewish elderly. And while the senior care landscape has changed around us, we have remained passionately committed to this mission.
We are compelled to ask: how can we make the most meaningful impact on our community’s neediest seniors? The answer to that question has changed over time. So has our strategy for implementing our mission.
From 2008 through 2019, we gradually expanded our reach through services such as: Transitional Care, Home Care, Hospice, Care Advisors, Medical Adult Day, outpatient Memory Care, Primary Care and Palliative Care. This array of services now provides care to nearly 5,000 seniors throughout our community each year – wherever and however they need us.
Bold leadership requires the courage to evolve.
After evaluating all other options, we came to the difficult decision to sell our treasured Horsham campus, the Abramson Center for Jewish Life. While we share in our community’s many emotions about this sale, it was necessary for sustaining our vital work.
Abramson Senior Care remains strong and ready to take our mission to new heights.
Our spectrum of caring services empower seniors to remain safely independent at home for as long as possible, choosing a nursing home only when absolutely necessary – aging in place with dignity, purpose and choice.
And so, while we remain committed to seniors who still need long term care, we are focusing our growth on the expansion of community and home-based models. Public policy is aligning with this trend. Increasingly, Medicaid is directing seniors to these forms of care in lieu of nursing homes.
This policy shift has profoundly affected our ongoing mission to serve frail Jewish seniors in need. We owed it to them to find another way.
Today, our Abramson Senior Care brand means coordinated, highly personalized care that enables seniors to move seamlessly through our innovative services as their needs evolve. It means support not only for seniors, but for the families who love them.
The vulnerability of our seniors has never been more painfully apparent. We are now called to ask: how can we serve them better? Our evolution began years before the pandemic, but the many lessons learned this year inform our path forward.
We are humbled and privileged that the community has entrusted us with caring for our seniors for over a century and a half. We will be here for you and your family for generations to come as we navigate the aging journey together.
