Abramson's Palliative Care Program Receives Generous Naming Gift

Tuesday January 14, 2020

Thanks to a very generous gift, Abramson Senior Care’s Palliative Care Program is now the Lila H. Levin Palliative Care Program.

The Lila H. Levin Palliative Care Program provides medical and emotional support to patients with life-limiting illnesses. The unique community-based model allows individuals to receive care wherever they wish, including in their own homes and in senior living communities throughout the Philadelphia region.

Palliative care is focused on relieving the stress of living with a serious illness by offering a layer of support services that includes comprehensive treatment for symptoms, ongoing psycho-social support, and in-depth care discussions to help achieve patient goals. A multidisciplinary care team of physicians, nurses, and social workers coordinate with the patient’s physicians to identify any gaps in care and to put supports in place to meet patient and caregiver needs. Patients do not need to have a terminal diagnosis and can be receiving curative treatments.

“There is a very strong correlation between palliative care and better patient outcomes, increased quality of life and reduced caregiver burden” says Abramson Senior Care Vice President Sean Gregson. “It is an important but often underutilized service. We are very thankful for this gift as it allows us to reach even more patients who may benefit greatly from this program.”
