The Abramson Center for Jewish Life, Penn State College of Nursing, and the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence hosted a full-day research symposium on Tuesday, September 13th at the Abramson Center. Part of the Center’s 150 year celebration, the conference recognized the importance of research throughout the Center’s history of providing innovative, high-quality care to seniors.

The symposium, “Knowledge Into Action: How Interprofessional Partnerships Improve Person-Centered Outcomes for Older Adults,” was attended by over 120 case managers, social workers and nurses working in the long-term care field in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Presentations were given by both Abramson Center and Penn State experts. Topics, such as delirium and dementia and using technology to enhance person-centered outcomes, covered how new research findings in senior care are being put into use by the Abramson Center.

The Abramson Center’s Polisher Research Institute and Penn State’s College of Nursing formed a partnership in 2015 to focus on improving person-centered care in the long-term care industry. The strong partnership is also dedicated to determining how research findings can effectively be implemented into senior care settings in a timely manner.

The Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life, located in Horsham Township, Montgomery County, Pa., is a nonprofit provider of services to seniors that include nursing care, personal care and independent living apartments, post-hospital transitional care, hospice, home care, medical adult day services, dialysis services, counseling and referral, as well as aging research.
