Abramson Center Residents and Volunteers Team Up to Spread Holiday Cheer

Tuesday December 22, 2015

Abramson Center residents and members of the Abramson Center’s Auxiliary gathered together on Wednesday, December 9th to wrap 19 gift baskets and make holiday cards for sick children staying at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.

Now in its fourth year, the gift wrapping event is sponsored by the Auxiliary whose volunteers shop for coloring books, crayons, fuzzy socks, stuffed animals and other toys to put in the baskets. The goodies are then arranged alongside blankets and hats knitted by the Center’s Resident Knitting Club and wrapped with a big bow.

“The whole project is a wonderfully creative, interactive outlet for both residents and volunteers,” says Gay Salin, Auxiliary president. “It is all of our hopes that these gifts bring a bit of cheer to the Ronald McDonald House children.”

A volunteer will later deliver the gifts to the Ronald McDonald House.

The Auxiliary of the Abramson Center for Jewish Life sponsors a variety of programs that enhance the quality of life of the seniors served by the Center, including recreational activities, special outings and religious celebrations. Auxiliary members volunteer their time to coordinate events and assist the seniors in participating in activities.
